Cher going shopping in Stockholm, Bob Dylan fooling around on a suburban street, the Rolling Stones in their dressing room at the Royal Swedish Tennis Hall in Stockholm and the Who snoozing on a night flight from Malmö in Sweden to Odense, across the Sound in Denmark. Camera in hand, Larsåke Thuresson opens doors to situations we never expected.
Ikoner/Icons presents 600 of the most spectacular and intimate photographs from his unique collection of 65 000 negatives. The images are from the early ‘60s to the mid-‘70s, capturing Swedish artists and international stars that continue to fascinate us to this day, arguably still influencing music and fashion. Some shots are from studios, some from press conferences and performances, and others from places few of us have been in.
The pictures are complemented by biographies and the personal impressions of writers, musicians and journalists who were there when it all happened – and from some who wish they had been.
